THE CENTER FOR GREEN STUDIES ANNOUNCES ITS FIRST RECYCLE FAIR. Please Stop filling landfills -- Recycle ! The Center for Green Studies is opening its doors with a new twist on an old theme. In the spirit of planetary health, They are hosting a 'Recycle Fair.' They want to give new life to those old household items before they become blocks in the great pyramids of garbage surrounding our cities. All are invited to register for a booth and sell that 'junk in the (storage) trunk' or visit and dig for treasure at a flea market benefiting The Center for
Green Studies. 12 Step Pack Rat Anonymous meetings and counseling on site.
The fair is scheduled from at 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM in the Center for Green Studies triangle located at 87432 Old Highway in Islamorada. (MM 87.4)

Labor Day Hurricane Memorial Service

The Matecumbe Historical Trust will host the Annual Labor Day Service at the Hurricane Monument to honor the lives of the many who died on Labor Day 1935 in the worst hurricane to ever hit the Florida Keys. The Service will be at 9am.

Mac User Group meets - Free lecture

At 7pm, at the Key Largo Library Community Room, the Upper Keys Mac User Group is pleased to host Christi Allen of EcoWeek on the topic of Constant Contact. Constant Contact is an online/email marketing solution that helps groups communicate about events and other news. Christi has been using the package to promote EcoWeek, and we'll be hearing more about that as she shows us the product. Mac and PC users are encouraged to come, this works on both platforms.
Mac beginners: come at 6:30 and bring your Mac and your questions. There will be some experienced users there to help for the half-hour before the formal presentation starts!
The meeting is free and open to the public, doesn't require reservations, and includes refreshments. UKMUG is a non-profit group promoting the use and enjoyment of computers through information and educational networking. There are monthly meetings/lectures/demonstrations, a monthly free E-newsletter, giveaways and fun for computer hobbyists in the Keys. It's casual, enjoyable and informative! A great family event! There will be an environmental fair and art show during the day at Curry Hammock State Park, featuring many activities for the whole family.
